Triple Pole 6ka Miniature Circuit Breakers (MCBs)Please choose between B type, C type or D type MCBs. Unsure ? then please read below... MCBs with the B type characteristic react quicker to overloads than C or D type MCBs. This type of MCB will trip and break the circuit when the current passing through them is between 3 and 4.5 times the normal full load current. Whereas C and D type MCBs allow a much bigger inrush which is between 5 and 10 times for C types and between 10 and 20 times for D types. This allows for the higher start up current required for fluorescent lighting, motors or transformers etc. The main applications for B type MCBs is to protect general domestic and commercial equipment such as wall sockets, incandescent lighting etc where little or no inrush is required. MCBs with the C type characteristic react slower than B type but faster than D type MCBs. This type of MCB will trip and break the circuit when the current passing through them is between 5 and 10 times the normal full load current. Whilst B type MCBs are used in domestic applications and D type MCBs are used to protect motors, C type MCBs are for general industrial use were inductive loads are present such as fluorescent lighting installations. MCBs with the D type characteristic react slower than B and C type MCBs. This type of MCB will trip and break the circuit when the current passing through them is between 10 and 20 times the normal full load current. D type MCBs are recommended only for circuits with very high inrush currents, such as those protecting motors, transformers, welding machines etc. Location: Triple Pole 6ka MCBs |
